PSA: We are winding operations down to focus on GamingOnLinux. This site was a fun idea, but time is short and GamingOnLinux is more important.
System76 are doing a new laptop named the 'Galago Pro' and for few more days you can pre-order it with $50 off. Sadly I missed the initial announcement as their press email never reached me.

The Galago Pro looks like an incredibly stylish device ready for the masses with a slick aluminium casing, instead of the always cheap feeling plastic cases most tend to come with. It's slim, but best of all incredibly light for such a device at 1.3kg (2.87 lbs).

It comes with Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS or Ubuntu 17.04, a speedy 7th Gen Intel in either an i5 7200U or i7 7500U and Intel® HD Graphics 620.

Like a lot of hardware suppliers, the base model only gives you 4GB RAM, with 8GB costing $49 more, but you can spec it up to 32GB. Applications eat RAM like candy nowadays, so I really feel that hardware vendors need to up their RAM game.

The base spec gives you a speedy 120GB M.2 SSD, which can be switched up to a 2TB NVMe drive, with the option of a second hard drive from a standard 1TB HDD up to a 4TB SSD. Of course, higher options again do cost quite a bit more.

The display is where the specs of this unity really seem to shine, with a crisp 13” 3200×1800 HiDPI display.

It starts at $949, but with the special offer going on it's $899 for a few more days. The offer officially expires on April 30th.

They did a little teaser video too:

Interested? Go here to order and find out more details.

I already have a tractor of a laptop i spent quite a bit on.
Seeing all these light , portable , slim devices makes me drool each time but I simply cannot justify spending the money on them.

I have the old model Galago Pro, and it's still easily my favorite laptop I've ever owned.

My three year old MSI is still going fine. But if and when, I will definitely visit their website and see what they haven.

This looks awesome! I will definitely have them on my short list next time I buy a new laptop.

Sounds great, but that Intel GPU... Makes this little more appealing than putting Linux on a slick Chromebook, but one with more HD space...

i wish i could spare the change, i would buy one on the spot...

Looks nice. But i can take my old laptops home when they expire at work (roughly every 3-4 years). My T530 with 8 gig ram and ssd... don't see a need for a new laptop for quite some time to come.
